Daniël Nogueira

Daniël Nogueira is a versatile director specializing in documentaries, fiction, and international commercials. He honed his skills at Art Academy St. Joost in Breda, where he studied Audio-Visual Design and Documentary Film. Furthering his education, he pursued a postgraduate course in “Television and Electronic Imaging and Time-Based Arts” at the University of Dundee, UK, and earned a BA in Media Studies from the University of Amsterdam.

 

Early in his career, Daniël served as an in-house director at Amsterdam’s advertising agency 180. Later he crafted captivating international commercials for brands such as MTV, Adidas, Guess, Sony, Hunkemöller, and Strongbow. His exceptional work has garnered recognition, including the Promax gold for best film promo, a NFF Gouden Kalf, a silver Epica award, Webby award, San Accent, HAFF best music video accolade, and nominations from ADCN and the Dutch Art Director’s Association.

 

While Daniël currently focuses primarily on documentary, fiction, and long-format filmmaking, he sharpens his talent as an advertising director. His portfolio showcases a diverse range of genres, all unified by his distinctive vision and innovative storytelling techniques, whether through live action, animation, blending different visual styles, or exploring the possibilities of digital realism.

 

Notably, Daniël’s short film “The Happiest Couple Alive” enjoyed a successful festival run and will soon be accessible through online providers. A six-part documentary series titled ‘Inside the Mind of a Con Artist’ which he directed in collaboration with producer Topkapi Non-Fiction is now shown on Curiosity Stream, Arte, ZDF and NPO.
